Kaş
Choose Kaş for a holiday shaped by a living town: harbour evenings, swimming and days on the water. The key decision is whether you want town access or a more secluded base outside it.
Written by Turquoise Society · Updated 3 October 2026. Practical planning guidance; confirm current access and property details with your host.
Is Kaş your kind of stay?
Kaş suits travellers who want time in town as well as time at their villa. Build the week around a harbour stroll, an unhurried meal, a swimming day and a day out on the water, rather than trying to fit the whole coast into one itinerary.
GoTürkiye identifies the ancient town as Antiphellos and highlights its surviving theatre, tombs and diving. You can combine that sense of place with an ordinary holiday rhythm; every day does not need to be an excursion.
- A good fit: couples, friends and families who enjoy town evenings and exploring.
- Prioritise a different base if your main wish is a broad sandy beach every day; compare Patara.
- For a village setting with planned trips into town, compare Çukurbağ.
Town access or a quieter retreat?
Start with how you expect to spend your evenings. If you want to leave the villa after dinner plans are made and explore on foot, ask for the actual walking route to your preferred part of town. A short distance on a map does not establish an easy walk.
A peninsula or hillside address can suit a villa-centred holiday, but confirm transport before committing. Sea views and privacy can be attractive trade-offs; convenient access is a separate question. Request a map pin, the road approach and photographs of entrance steps.
- Check the return route, gradient, lighting and pavement, not just the downhill journey.
- Ask where a car can park and whether taxis can collect at the entrance.
- For children or reduced mobility, check steps between bedrooms, terraces and the pool.
Plan swimming and boat days separately
For swimming, establish whether your chosen spot has sand, pebbles, rocks or a platform. Ask about steps into the water and conditions on the day. “Near the sea” does not promise a beach suitable for every swimmer.
For a boat day, agree the departure point, group size and style of trip before booking. A shared outing and a private charter offer different experiences. Ask what is included, which stops are planned and how weather-related changes are handled.
Divers should speak directly to an operator about experience, qualifications and the planned sites. Keep a relaxed day in the itinerary so a changed sea forecast does not undo the whole week.
Car hire, transfers and the first evening
You can plan a town-focused stay around walking and arranged transport if the exact address supports it. For a villa outside town or a week of independent day trips, consider a hire car. Decide this using the property’s location, not the destination name alone.
Compare airport transfers using your flight time, group size, luggage and any child-seat requirements. Ask the host for the current journey estimate. For a late arrival, arrange access instructions, food and the first morning’s essentials in advance.
Choose the pace as well as the season
A summer itinerary works better with early starts for active outings, shade in the middle of the day and room for rest. If walking or sightseeing is central to the trip, consider spring or autumn and check the conditions for your intended dates.
Outside the main holiday period, ask which restaurants, boat services and villa facilities will operate. Confirm pool heating separately if it matters: a private pool is not necessarily a heated one.
Five questions before you book
Use these questions alongside the owner’s written terms. For a live property, availability and arrangements must be confirmed directly by its owner or authorised manager.
- What is the exact address and the realistic route into town?
- Which swimming access would you suggest for our group?
- Would you recommend a car for this particular villa?
- Are any bedrooms, terraces or pool areas reached by steep steps?
- What are the full price, payment schedule, cancellation terms and arrival arrangements?
